Winter 2009 Update
Thank you all for waiting patiently we have a HUGE update that should keep you fairly satisfied for the time being. I want to get you up to date where you know just as much as I do.
First lets get our 11th Record Announced alright ok??? We will be working with Devour from Raleigh, North Carolina. This is their second release which will be a 7" which is following up their self-titled LP on Sorry State Records. This 7" will be entitled "Insect Circuitry", Devour sheds the darker side of hardcore which for me brings band to the front of my mind like Nausea, Rudimentary Peni and maybe even Void. This record we are hoping to have out before the new year!
OK, now some label news.
For those who have not had the chance to check it out yet, we have a brand new website and store thanks to Alex Pines! We are now using the Big Cartel store which allows you to check out and not have to sign up with anything. Credit Orders can still go via Paypal and now International Orders are much easier as well! Please check out the new site and store, we are constantly updating it and will be offering lots of deals in the coming months so you can get your vinyl fix no matter what this economy is like.
We have also decided to become a distributor of Maximum Rock and Roll. We are one of the Few (if not the only?) out of the Northern Virginia Area. We will be hosting the current issue each month on our site, and pending we have any will have all issues at shows as well. So keep an eye for us out at shows or grab a copy with your next order! they are the longest lasting DIY magazine and something many people take for granted. If you have a local business or would also be interested in carrying some copies get in touch, we would be happy to get some copies in your store.
We recently had our First Headcount Records Showcase November 13th at the Corpse Fortress. Seasick, Mirrors and Wires and Juice Tyme played along with locals Deathrats and Mind Wreck. It was a great turn out and every single band ripped! We want to personally thank everyone who came out and made it the success that it was. Expect more of our bands to be coming to town on a more regular basis. Mirrors and Wires will be playing in December at the Lotus F*cker Release, Seasick should be back in Janurary with Rational Animals, Hostage Calm in Februrary, and those are just the ones off the top of my head.
The First Press of Seasick Ennui 7" is still available, for those who haven't seen it the cover is a 3 panel fold out poster which was silk screened by our friends at the Stolen Sleeves Collective in Brooklyn. For our international friends this was a split release with Refuse Records. I am still working on the tour journal which i will be publishing as a Zine i was working on over the summer, after coming home from the European Tour with Seasick it got put under lots of other commitments and kinda got forgotten about. We are back working on this Zine and will announce when its ready, it will include the Headcount/Seasick Euro-tour journal, Interviews with almost every band we have worked with and some essays by myself and a couple other guest writers.
Juice Tyme is calling it quits! they have announced the show is over and will be doing a farewell stadium tour Janurary 1st to the 10th. They plan on playing NC, FL, GA, TN, OH, IL, and MI. They may need some help with certain dates so if you think you could lend a hand and want to see them please do get in touch, we will point you in their direction. The 7" it's self is almost out of press and will not be repressed. We have some copies left as do Forcefield Records out of Richmond Virginia. The limitied 6 color covers are all sold out, sorry if you slept on those, if you are hunting down this record i would get one with the quickness as it will be a hard to find item in months to come.
Mirrors and Wires the punk surf assassins from New Brunswick,NJ is doing wild things as of late, for starters they have a new 7" called the Sleight of Hand out on Psychic Volt Records. More killer tracks and a must pick up for all fans, the Colourized Audio Transmissions 7" is under 10 copies with us. Mirrors and Wires features members of Zhenia Golov, the Degenerics and Down in Flames doing something that sounds like none of the bands i just listed. If you haven't taken notice to this limited pressed record its time to act. Keep an eye out for an upcoming LP sometime next year.
The Libyans from Boston have continued growing and we are excited to have worked with them. Now they have a discography tape out on Drugged Conscience and an LP version on a European Label. They will be making their European Excursion this upcoming January, for all OUR International fans, please go out and see them! We have done a repress of the Crash Course 7" with Shock to the System records. we had some extra covers so we put vinyl to go with it. Just 150 more copies total between the two labels and this time around its on trash vinyl. Perfect for completests or if you missed the first press alike.
Hostage Calm is in the studio doing a NEW full length. Details on this will be announced by them in the near future. We've heard a couple of these tracks and it is killer. We have copies of the 2nd press of their demo 7" but im going to have to guess once this new full length is out they will disappear for good. 2010 is also going to be a huge year for Hostage Calm.
Check bad every so often, we will be carrying new titles on the monthly basis and have new issues of MRR to keep up with! Also add us on Twitter as we will be having secret sales from time to time!
